It’s a new twist on “screen-time:” This innovative design from Philippe Starck offers the latest technology to create a piece that doesn’t just illuminate, it contributes to a greater good. Light Photon utilizes organic LED (OLED) technology—a unique solution that highlights building large, light-emitting surface sources instead of inorganic LED (which is powerful but uses small surface components). OLED light sources have the appearance of a thin foil of light laminated between two high purity glass sheets, and they can be directly recycled in the existing glass waste chain, which classifies OLED among the most environmentally friendly light sources.
Light Photon is equipped with OLED and operates by using the latest developments in nanotechnology and functional chemistry. It is made of a complex stack of thin molecular layers of organic materials that produce white light. The full diode, including electrodes, is 200nm thick, and is constructed in an extra pure and clean environment. To celebrate the FLOS 50th Anniversary, Light Photon was put in production beginning on September 28, 2012 for a limited edition of 500 pieces. Each piece is uniquely numbered.
This adjustable table lamp provides diffused lighting.
